  <p>Are you looking for an opportunity to develop your skills in delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy? If so, we have opportunities in our Solar mental health service for 0-19 year olds starting in January 2025.</p> <p>This is a one year fixed term post for registered practitioners to work as a Mental Health Practitioner in Solar or with practitioners who can demonstrate the necessary skills using the Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes (KSA) route. This post provides the opportunity to complete the Children and Young People Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (CYP IAPT) training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) that is being run in collaboration with the University of Derby. The successful candidates would be working as Mental Health Practitioners within Solar for the duration of the one year course and would split their time between training (2 days) and carrying out clinical work (2.5 days) and study time (0.5 day). There is an expectation that time will be needed outside of these hours to complete academic work and assignments. After successful completion of the course the fixed term contract will end, however applicants would be encouraged to apply for any vacant posts within the service/organisation. </p> <p>The training involves teaching blocks as well as weekly teaching and supervision days at the University of Derby. Applicants must be willing to travel. The course is envisaged to start in February 2025.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>This is a training role within the Children and Young People's Improving Access to Psychological Therapies Programme (CYP IAPT). The post-holder will work within Solar (0-19 children and young people's emotional wellbeing and mental health service) providing interventions under supervision whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. The training post will equip the post-holder to provide interventions for children, young people or families using the core principles of CYP IAPT practice along with an evidence-based intervention consistent with the course they are attending. The post- holder will attend all taught and self-study days required by the education provider, as specified within the CYP IAPT curriculum and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills.</p>
<p>The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.</p>

  <p>To work as a Specialist Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist as part of psychological therapy and psychology services within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and care pathways.</p><p>To provide a comprehensive, highly specialist cognitive behavioural psychotherapy service to young people with complex problems for which CBT is evidenced to be clinically effective.

This includes working with children and adolescents who may present with severe and treatment resistant disorders with co-existing conditions.</p><p>To use a broad theoretical knowledge base to provide specialist cognitive behavioural assessments and formulations that inform highly skilled CBT interventions.</p><p>To work as a highly skilled autonomous practitioner, managing a caseload under clinical and case management supervision. To offer consultation and guidance to other mental health professionals, other treatment pathways and community colleagues.</p><p>To contribute to the ongoing development of CBT practice taking into account advances in treatment, theory and research.</p><p>This post requires in-person attendance at clinics, meetings, assessments and liaison with other professionals, which could include attending MDT meetings, for example Strat meetings, child in need and more. An interest in adapting therapies for men at high risk of violence is especially valued.</p> <p>Tamarind is an 89 bed medium secure unit supporting men with enduring mental health needs and histories of violence.
