<p>Water Meadow View is a new mental health inpatient unit for adults who have learning disabilities. The site is due to open in Winter 2025 on our site in Whittingham, Preston.</p>
<p>As we prepare to open this unit, we have a new and exciting opportunity for a LD Peer Support Worker to join us and support the Multi-Disciplinary Team to deliver outstanding person-centred care.</p>
<p>This role will play a vital part in ensuring that the voices of people who use our service are embedded in everything we do. </p>
<p>One of the Trust's aims is to deliver the best possible care to our patients, and this new inpatient unit will do just that. Water Meadow View will offer clinical excellence, support, and safety, with patient-centred care at its heart.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>As a Peer Support Worker, you will use your personal lived experience of having a learning disability to support and empower others facing similar experiences.</p>
<p>Working within Water Meadow View, you will provide emotional and practical support, helping individuals build confidence, develop independence, and engage in recovery in a meaningful way. You will also use your lived experience to ensure that the service user's voice is heard and is at the centre.</p>
<p>The key responsibilities of this role are:</p>
<ul>
<li>To work directly with service users on a 1:1 and in group settings as agreed with the Ward Manager.</li>
<li>To encourage and support service users to engage in meaningful occupations throughout the day.</li>
<li>Work alongside service users and occupational therapy professionals to plan, deliver and evaluate occupational therapy groups through meaningful co-production.</li>
<li>To engage with service users throughout their recovery journey to support admission, therapy, treatment, care and discharge.</li>
<li>Support professionals to deliver training to external providers to support successful discharges</li>
<li>To support multi-disciplinary professionals to develop resources for service users</li>

Learning Disability Peer Support Worker

  <p>At LSCft we are developing our Peer Workforce to strengthen our lived experience expertise in our delivery of person centred care. We're serious about enabling career opportunities for our Peer Workforce by recruiting to a Senior Peer Facilitator who will join our recovery-focused Community Roots service on a 30-hour permanent contract. Due to the success of Peer roles across our in-patient services, we are now looking to recruit a Senior Peer Facilitator to be based in Bay locality</p>
<p>The role of the Senior Peer Facilitator has been developed specifically for people who have lived experience of recovery from mental health challenges and experience of personally accessing inpatient mental health services or secondary care community mental health services. Senior Peer Facilitators will have experience of providing peer support to mental health service users.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>This important role will help us to develop a supportive peer network across The Bay locality by enhancing the recruitment, training and mentorship of Peer Facilitators across in-patient services. You will play a key role in developing Trust wide understanding of the role of Peers in achieving excellent person centred care, as well as promoting recovery principles and education through the Community Roots.</p>

  <p>HCSWs within this team are lone workers, taking full responsibility for the care of children with complex needs after receiving comprehensive training. This could be caring for a child overnight in their own home, while parents are sleeping, accompanying a child to school and meeting their needs during the school day or working with another HCSW/nurse to give parents a complete break.</p>
<p>Following training and competency assessment, HCSWs will be able to independently care for children with tracheostomies, gastrostomies, require medications, oxygen therapy amongst other medical needs.</p>
<p>Shift times vary dependant on the child's needs and HCSWs are expected to work a mixture of days, nights, and weekend shifts, these can be anytime over the 24 hour period.</p>
