<p>The post holder will have a desire to develop their skills in working with adults with severe and enduring mental illness, some of whom will have not had previous access to psychologically informed interventions.</p>

<h2>Job summary</h2>
  <p>As an autonomous practitioner you will play a key part in the delivery of high-quality service provision that promotes and improves the mental health and well-being of children and young people, their families and carers. Managing a complex caseload within the multi-disciplinary team setting, the post holder will provide a range of high-quality care appropriate to the child or young person's needs which will include full mental health assessment, risk assessment and management, family and social assessment, consultation and therapeutic interventions.</p>
<p>Within a systemic and holistic framework, you will undertake needs led, evidence based, highly skilled assessments and provide therapeutic interventions, ensuring this is done evidencing shared decision making and partnership working with children and young people, their families and carers.</p>

  <p>Would you like to be part of a new, exciting and innovative service working with young people with an ethos of prevention and early intervention?</p> <p>In line with the government's priority to increase access and availability of mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people, the new Mental Health Support Teams (named by children and young people in the region as Wellbeing in Mind teams) are an exciting opportunity to deliver evidence-based early interventions for children and young people, working across both educational settings and healthcare sectors in England. We currently have 5 Wellbeing in Mind teams across North Yorkshire, which are embedded within education settings</p> <p>We are looking to recruit an Education Mental Health Practitioner, the successful candidate will be employed on a part time basis and be part of a team delivering support to schools and colleges in the York area.</p> <p><strong>Applicants must have successfully completed the 1year Post Graduate Certificate 'Education Mental Health Practitioner' course.</strong></p> <p><strong>Applicants must be registered with British Psychological Society (BPS) or/and the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).</strong></p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>The Wellbeing in Mind team has 3 functions:</p> <ol>  <li>Support the development of a whole-school or college approach to wellbeing. This can include, but is not limited to, supporting sites to develop and implement mental health and wellbeing policies, development of resources, supporting campaigns and delivering training, assemblies and PHSE curriculum.</li>  <li>Provide timely advice and consultation to education staff. This is designed to support teaching staff to build their skills and confidence in supporting the wellbeing needs of their students/pupils. This is offered in both a formal and informal way.</li>  <li>Undertake direct assessments and intervention for young people within education. We offer a low intensity service model, predominantly using cognitive-behavioural therapy.</li> </ol> <p>Each function accounts for a third of the team's workload.</p> <p>Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.</p>
