We are looking for a caring, resilient, and enthusiastic Mental Health Assistant to join this amazing specialist school in Abingdon. They support students aged 11-18 with social emotional and mental health needs, as well as complex needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity for aspiring psychologists, therapists, counsellors, or mental health professionals looking to gain valuable hands-on experience in an educational setting.

You will work closely with students, teachers, and therapists to help create a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment where every young person can succeed.

Your day to day as a Mental Health Assistant will consist of the below:

  • Supporting students to access their education in a safe, calm and engaging way
  • Helping the students regulate their emotions and manage their behaviour positively
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual interventions and therapeutic plans
  • Support communication and social skills to support emotional development
  • Monitor progress and record observation and behaviour notes
