  <p>This role is located specifically within Core CAMHS. Core CAMHS is the part of the service offering evidence informed interventions for children and young people and their families who have moderate to severe difficulties. The post holder will ensure the systematic provision of a high-quality specialist clinical psychology intervention for Children, Young People and their families within our specialist mental health service. As a consultant you are a senior leader within the service and as such you would be expected to work alongside the Clinical Director, operational leads and principal grade psychologists to provide clinical support, expert consultation and supervision across specialist camhs and our service arm which offers supervision and consultation to the wider system (and partner agencies). We would expect you to have your own clinical case load and to 'lead by example'. As a Consultant Psychologist we would expect you to work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for governance of psychological practice within Children and Young People's mental health services. The post holder would be expected to provide clinical supervision and consultation to a range of professionals. As a senior leader you would be expected to propose and implement policy and service development changes within children's and young people's mental health services.</p>   <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>Unlike our other Consultant Post within CAMHS, the post holder has particular responsibility to develop CBT interventions and consultation by providing supervision and training for our clinicians who work with children and young people with moderate to severe difficulties. While we are keen for someone with a strong CBT background, we expect the post holder to work trans diagnostically and embrace our core models which include systemic and attachment-based elements to our understanding and treatment of children.</p> <p>We would expect you to contribute to both the Leicester and Oxford University doctoral training programs including the provision of clinical placements, teaching, research supervision and membership of the doctoral course management boards as required.</p>

<p>Join the friendly and supportive team of qualified, ‘in training’ and Assistant Psychologists, each of whom work within a variety of different psychological frameworks and modalities. The team also includes a CBT Therapist and DBT Nurse Specialist. This is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate competency in the core areas required to qualify as a Forensic Psychologist, receiving supervision from a Chartered Forensic Psychologist.</p>
<p>You will be working in the male forensic services, which encompass medium and low secure care for service users. There will be opportunity to utilise a variety of therapeutic approaches to aid rehabilitation for individuals who have complex needs and require help to manage their internal processes in a safer way, whilst working towards rehabilitation. In particular the role will involve contribution towards our MDT team based DBT informed approach to treatment of men with acute mental illness.</p>
<p>Working as Trainee Psychologist in our team, you will have your own case load, under supervision and will support with conducting assessments and facilitating group and individual therapeutic sessions across the male services. You will also be supporting and contributing to risk assessments, collection and analysis of data, and representing Psychology in multi-disciplinary clinical meetings. You will support in co-facilitating workshops and training delivered across the hospital. You will also be supported to maintain your personal and professional development.</p>
<p>We are committed to evaluating the effectiveness of our treatment programmes to ensure patients are receiving the required treatment, and there is encouragement to engage in Research projects. You will ideally have experience and knowledge of working with care experienced children and the teams that support them (teams around the child), particularly an understanding of the difficulties and risks our children and teams encounter.</p><p>This is a flexible and varied role that will appeal to Psychologists with a keen interest in child and adolescent mental health, creating innovative, therapeutic, trauma responsive and caring environments and share the goal of enabling and inspiring our children.</p><p><strong> Main Duties and Responsibilities </strong></p><ul><li>Provide specialist psychological input and guidance across the region.</li><li>Promote and apply our clients clinical model to support therapeutic practice.</li><li>Oversee assessment, formulation, and evidence-based therapeutic planning for children and young people.</li><li>Deliver psychological interventions.</li><li>Offer psychological insight to inform referrals, placements, and operational decisions.</li><li>Conduct risk assessments and advise on risk management strategies.</li><li>Consult with carers, educators, families, and professionals to support psychological wellbeing.</li></ul><p><strong>Teaching/Training/Supervision/Consultation </strong></p><ul><li>Deliver training on therapeutic approaches and applied psychology.</li><li>Provide psychological consultation on assessment, intervention, and management.</li><li>Advise on child trauma, attachment, and recovery.</li><li>Supervise and support team members.</li></ul><p><strong>Policy and Service Development </strong></p><ul><li>Contribute a psychological perspective to clinical service development and planning.</li><li>Support policy and service improvements offering guidance on psychological needs.</li><li>Maintain effective communication with Local Authorities, NHS, and other agencies.</li></ul><p><strong>Evaluation/Research </strong></p><ul><li>Stay up to date with research to inform evidence-based practice</li><li>Support outcome measure administration and, with approval, lead relevant research.</li><li>Advise on research design and methodology as needed.</li></ul><p><strong>Professional/administrative </strong></p><ul><li>Engage in supervision and CPD in line with professional guidelines (e.g. HCPC, BPS).</li><li>Adhere to ethical codes, professional standards, and organisation policies.</li><li>Maintain accurate records and collect relevant data.</li><li>Travel as required to fulfil role responsibilities.</li></ul><p><strong>About you</strong></p><ul><li><strong>Essential:</strong> Doctorate in Clinical, Forensic, Counselling or Educational Psychology or equivalent</li><li><strong>Essential:</strong> Professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)</li><li><strong>Essential:</strong> Knowledge of the impact of developmental trauma and adverse childhood experiences on life trajectories</li><li><strong>Essential:</strong> Full clean driving licence and access to your own vehicle </li><li><strong>Desirable:</strong> Other clinical training such as CBT; Systemic Psychotherapy; DBT; DDP; EMDR</li></ul>
