<h2><strong>Fully remote, full-time internship for aspiring clinical psychologists, psychotherapists and counsellors.</strong></h2><p>Our Clinical Psychology Internship equips aspiring mental health professionals worldwide with essential skills and practical client-facing experience, preparing them for careers in clinical psychology, coaching, psychotherapy, or counselling.</p><p>Interns complete an intensive one-month crash course covering a toolkit of evidence-based techniques from Motivational Interviewing, Coaching, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). They then provide free online, one-to-one coaching to global clients who otherwise lack access to mental health care, initially promoting behaviour change (e.g., diet, sleep, reducing procrastination) and later progressing to clients experiencing depression or anxiety.</p><h3><strong>About Overcome</strong></h3><p>Overcome is a UK-registered charity (Charity Number: 1191308) providing online mental health coaching worldwide, particularly to underserved communities in developing countries. We are a trusted placement provider for leading universities such as UCL, Bath, and Loughborough.</p><h3><strong>Internship Overview</strong></h3><p>This internship is a fully remote, unpaid, full-time (~30 hours/week) role. Approximately 80% of our alumni secure paid mental health positions (e.g., Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Assistant Psychologists, Support Workers), or pursue further relevant studies shortly after completion.</p><p><strong>We take applications on a rolling basis with monthly cohorts!</strong></p><h2><strong>Responsibilities</strong></h2><h3><strong>1st Month</strong></h3><ul><li><strong>Full-time Intensive Training</strong></li></ul><p>Engage in full-time intensive training covering techniques from motivational interviewing, and important techniques from cognitive behavioural therapy and acceptance commitment therapy.</p><ul><li><strong>Diverse Learning Activities</strong></li></ul><p>Learning activities include live workshops, self-study, quizzes, one-to-one/group roleplays, and assessments.t</p><h3><strong>2nd and 3rd Month</strong></h3><ul><li><strong>Client Work</strong></li></ul><p>~90% of interns pass training to support real clients. They keep track of client sessions and update their supervisor.   <p>This is a Band 8b to Band 8c developmental post.</p>  <p>An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Psychologist/Counselling Psychologist to join our Older Adult Inpatient Psychology team in North Cumbria, working within a multi-disciplinary team including Approved clinician, and an Assistant Psychologist.The post will work into our two older adult wards.Ruskin is our ward for people with organic problems including dementia providing assessment and treatment by a multi-disciplinary health and social care team. The ward supports service users and their families with a range of different treatments and therapies. Oakwood is our ward for older people with mental health problems arising from functional disorders such as depression, anxiety or psychosis. Care is provided by amulti-disciplinary team using a biopsychosocial model of understanding.</p>   <p>This post is a developmental post from Band 8b to 8c with Approved clinician training a requirement for progression. You will be deployed as an Approved Clinician on completion of the course as par of your Job Plan. This post will help to enhance the psychological offer for the wards as well as building a more robust workforce in relation to Approved clinician capacity.</p>     <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>You will be responsible for professional leadership and governance of the older adult inpatient psychology team. Clinically you will work on both Ruskin and Oakwood wards and be part of the ward leadership team. You will also provide high quality evidence based psychological assessment, formulation, and interventions to service users. You will also be responsible for providing advice, consultation, and training to colleagues on psychological aspects of assessment, formulation, care, and treatment.</p>  <p>You will undertake the UNN Approved Clinician training and be given support to access appropriate cases and supervision.</p>  <p>On completion of the Approved clinician training, you will have an agreed job plan which combines the Consultant Clinical Psychologist post with Approved clinician responsibilities in an agreed job plan.</p>  <p>You will also be part of the wider Older People's Psychological Service in North Cumbria which consists of Clinical Psychologists, a CBT Therapist and Assistant Psychologists.
