<p>An opportunity has arisen for an accredited counsellor to join the Oncology Team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire. We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative individual who would like to work alongside MDT colleagues in supporting patients with a cancer diagnosis and their families and carers.</p>
<p>The team serves a busy acute hospital working within the Arden Cancer Centre and a wider range of nurses, medics and allied professional supporting cancer patients.</p>
<p>There'sopportunity to gain experience in a wide range of cancer conditions and cutting edge treatments, working with inpatients and outpatients. You will be working alongside the service lead and part of a wider psychology team across the trust with excellent support provided for your development. We also have excellent administrative support for the team.</p>
<p>This position is for a band 6 counsellor. 0.6wte</p>

  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>To ensure the systematic provision of a high quality counselling service to patients diagnosed with and treated for cancer, and their families under the care of the Arden Centre at UHCW. To manage own caseload and work autonomously within professional guidelines, exercising clinical responsibility, and implementing changes where necessary. To participate as a member of the Oncology (and where appropriate Haematology) Psychological Service team and to work co-operatively with multidisciplinary colleagues to achieve service goals.</p>
<p>To ensure the systematic provision of the psychological service, including the responsibility to prioritise work appropriately.</p>
<p>To use self-report measures, rating scales, direct and semi-structured interviews with patients, family members and others involved in the client's care.</p>
<p>To formulate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors that have shaped the individual or family</p>

  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>To work as a Specialist Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist as part of psychological therapy and psychology services within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and care pathways.</p><p>To provide a comprehensive, highly specialist cognitive behavioural psychotherapy service to young people with complex problems for which CBT is evidenced to be clinically effective.

This includes working with children and adolescents who may present with severe and treatment resistant disorders with co-existing conditions.</p><p>To use a broad theoretical knowledge base to provide specialist cognitive behavioural assessments and formulations that inform highly skilled CBT interventions.</p><p>To work as a highly skilled autonomous practitioner, managing a caseload under clinical and case management supervision. To offer consultation and guidance to other mental health professionals, other treatment pathways and community colleagues.</p><p>To contribute to the ongoing development of CBT practice taking into account advances in treatment, theory and research.</p><p>This post requires in-person attendance at clinics, meetings, assessments and liaison with other professionals, which could include attending MDT meetings, for example Strat meetings, child in need and more. <p>Counsellors&nbsp;on Placement provide emotional and therapeutic support to children and young people aged 4-18 in Place2Be partner schools. As an organisation that has adopted the BACP ethical framework of good practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, counsellors working within the organisation are dedicated to improving the mental health and well-being of the children they work with.</p>

    <li>Place2Be provides a high level of support to counsellors on placement through regular supervision, tailored training workshops and offers a well-recognised clinical placement*.</li>
    <li>We provide a comprehensive induction programme and clinical supervision is undertaken at the end of each day.</li>
    <li>We need you to be available for a minimum of one day per week to work in a therapeutic capacity with up to 3 children offering one-to-one counselling.</li>
    <li>Placements are term time only and run for one academic year. There are opportunities for you to stay with us beyond one year.</li>
    <li>You will have the opportunity to attend up to six optional workshops throughout the year which are recognised as continuing professional development time.</li>

<p>All clinical hours gained on placement can be used towards accreditation with a body such as BACP and UKCP. However if you need to gain clinical hours for your course, we would strongly advise that you check with your course tutor as to whether child hours are accepted before applying. If your course does not accept child hours but you would like to gain counselling experience of working with Children and Young People, you can still apply for a Place2Be placement as a second placement.</p>

<p>You will be a fully qualified Counsellor, Therapist or studying towards one of these professions at the following levels:</p>
<ul type="disc">
    <li>Diploma in Counselling (Level 4 or above). If you are in your first year you will have completed a full academic year Certificate Course in Counselling or the equivalent of 9 - 12 months.</li>
    <li>Degree, MSc or MA in Counselling or Psychotherapy - if you are in your first year you will have relevant experience of direct work with children.</li>
