<h2>Job summary</h2>
  <p>An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Genetic/Genomic Counsellor to join the NWTRGS Cancer Genetics team in delivering a comprehensive, equitable clinical genomic and counselling service for people with, or at-risk of, inherited cancer.</p> <p>The post holder will have experience in genetic/genomic counselling and will manage an independent caseload of diagnostic, pre-symptomatic and urgent cancer cases. They will have on-call responsibilities which include managing urgent cases and being able to answer appropriate queries.</p> <p>As a member of the Cancer Genetics Team, the post holder will also be involved in providing cancer risk assessment advice and guidance and be responsible for preparing for and attending relevant MDTs. The post holder may also be involved in a specialist cancer clinic depending on the needs of the service. They will maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the scientific, medical, and psychological aspects of Clinical Genetics. The post holder will work alongside other clinicians within the department, as well as other healthcare professionals, including mainstream colleagues. The post holder should already hold or be working toward professional UK registration.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p> Provide genetic/genomic counselling using different communication modalities such as in-person, virtual and telephone consultations (including preparation and planning for consultation and post clinic follow-up)</p> <p> Accurately document family history using paper and appropriate computer systems such as Phenotips</p> <p> Keep up-to-date and clear records</p> <p> Make appropriate referrals for patients</p> <p> Maintain a log of all patients seen</p> <p> Take a lead role in clinic appointments</p> <p> Support and work alongside cancer mainstream colleagues in the region</p> <p> Order genetic tests where appropriate</p> <p> Liaise with other healthcare professionals</p> <p> Be responsible for preparation of, attending and presenting cases at MDT meetings</p> <p> May triage referrals of patients to the service within their area of expertise, using appropriate protocols</p> <p> Risk assessment within their area of expertise using appropriate software</p> <p> Act as a cancer genetics resource and participate in teaching of genetics to other healthcare professionals/students or patient/public groups.</p> <p> Be responsible for overseeing some of the cancer team database/spreadsheets of known pathogenic/likely pathogenic carriers for cancer predisposition syndromes</p> <p> Contribute to service development, audit and studies</p>

  <p>This is a truly exciting time as we change what we do and how we deliver community mental health services. This newly integrated CMH team is developing a pathway for people with psychosis and an enhanced pathway for people with psychosis where meaningful engagement can be a challenge. You will work closely with senior colleagues across our teams and localities on team and service development whilst providing psychological interventions to people with greatest complexity. </p> <p>We want you to feel supported within your role and we are keen see our psychologists flourish and develop with training in Family Interventions (BFT), CBT for Psychosis (CBTp) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for example. We also have access to the Bespoke training platform and an excellent psychological skills development team.</p>

  <p>An exciting opportunity has arisen, for someone to join our team of cancer counsellors at ESNEFT. We are looking for a motivated and experienced counsellor with the skills to offer therapeutic support to cancer patients and their relatives.</p>
<p>As part of a cross site collaborative counselling service, you will work 34 hours per week across 4 or 5 days, based in the Cancer Wellbeing and Information Centre at Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals. Subject to room availability and needs of the service you will work at least 2 days at Colchester (Monday and Tuesday) and 1 day in Ipswich (Wednesday or Friday). Other time can be worked from home. Regular outreach clinics are held in Clacton and counsellors also provide telephone support from home.</p>
<p>You are required to have previous experience of working as a counsellor, ideally in a secondary care setting. You will be BACP accredited or working towards accreditation with substantial experience of counselling clients and time-limited work. You will support cancer patients and their loved ones who may present with a range of needs, such as trauma, grief and loss to effectively manage the challenges and ethical dilemmas presented in this area of work.</p>

Working independently you will be responsible for the administrative duties, record keeping and data collection and analysis associated with the role. You will lead on the bookings of the clients referred and liaise with the Wellbeing centre staff regarding room bookings. You will be confident in multi-tasking and able to demonstrate excellent IT and telephone skills.</p>
