  <p>An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Band 8b registered clinical psychologist to work across the City and Hackney EQUIP and Heads Up Teams. EQUIP provides an assertive and responsive service to adults aged 18 - 65 for up to 3 years during their recovery from a first episode of psychosis. The service covers the City of London and London Borough of Hackney. Emphasis is placed on maximising wellbeing and on social, psychological, physical and educational/vocational recovery. The team works to standards set for early intervention in psychosis teams and participates in the annual National Clinical Audit on Psychosis. The team also works closely with the early detection team, HEADS UP, which provides support to those who are at risk of developing psychosis, and actively connects with local community groups in order to improve detection rates of this group.</p> <p>This post would be suitable for someone with significant experience, a strong interest in psychosis and early intervention and a collaborative approach to leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of psychology across EQUIP and Heads Up. They will also work closely with the operational lead and consultant psychiatrists as a member of the senior management team.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
   <p>The principal psychologist role provides leadership to and management of the psychology staff within the service, as well as contributing to the senior management team within the service. The post holder will work alongside clinical and/or counselling psychologists already in post to support individuals who are experiencing or at risk of developing first episode psychosis and their families/carers.</p> <p>The post holder will supervise and line manage the psychological professions in the team and lead on other aspects of governance required to deliver an effective service. </p> <p>Whilst there may be opportunities for a small caseload as well as supporting the team with complex assessments and psychological consultations, the main focus of the role is on the team's provision of effective and timely psychological interventions in accordance with NICE guidelines for Early Intervention in Psychosis, and ensuring that the psychological professionals are suitably led and supported towards that aim. </p>

<p>You&nbsp;will provide a clinical service of specialist psychology assessments and interventions to a number of adult service users with&nbsp;acute mental health needs&nbsp;on the ward. You will also provide a specialist clinical perspective in relation to other service users with whom you might not be directly involved. Potters Bar uses a formulation driven and trauma informed model of care.</p>
<p>Reporting directly to the Lead Psychologist, you will be responsible for individual and group interventions, diagnostic and cognitive assessments, MDT working and risk assessments. You will also facilitate staff reflective practice sessions and be requested to design and deliver training.</p>
<p>As a Psychologist, you will have experience and knowledge in carrying a service user’s caseload, including assessing complex needs and designing and delivering specialist psychological treatments to support their care plans.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>As a Psychologist you will be:</strong></p>
<ul>
    <li>Working autonomously to provide a specialist psychology service to patients as agreed by Consultant Psychiatrist, Therapies Lead, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and in discussion with wider MDT.</li>
    <li>Undertaking specialist assessments.</li>
    <li>Providing specialist interventions according to formulations based on an appropriate conceptual framework, NICE guidelines, evidence from research, and in accordance with the wider MDT formulation and interventions.</li>
    <li>Be involved in running therapeutic groups on the ward as agreed.</li>
    <li>Continually monitor risk of all patients for whom there is direct contact, or regarding which the post holder receives relevant information, ensure acute risk is managed, liaise with MDT (and in particular responsible psychiatrist) regarding risk, and update electronic record including risk assessment as required.</li>
    <li>Ensuring that all clinical work is adequately recoded in the electronic patient record.</li>
    <li>Attending ward rounds (and other MDT meetings), case conferences, CPAs as required, and provide reports in advance for these in accordance with local procedures.</li>
    <li>Preparing clinical; reports as required, e.g. assessment reports, discharge summaries.</li>
    <li>Liaising with internal and external colleagues as required</li>
    <li>Completing all recording and reporting tasks associated with clinical work.</li>

Contribute to clinical research, as opportunities arise. </p><p>Counselling Psychologist - COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIPS </p><p>Communicate with clients, their relatives and multi-agency professionals regarding complex condition-related, sensitive and/or distressing information. </p><p>Barriers to acceptance and understanding may need to be overcome, and this will require the use of highly developed interpersonal skills and empathy. </p><p>Attendance at case conferences, meetings and reviews as required. </p><p>To be an effective communicator with a range of people, including service users and their families, within the Neurodevelopmental multi-disciplinary team and across multi-agency settings. </p><p>To demonstrate an excellent range of communication skills, incorporating emotional intelligence. </p><p>Prepare comprehensive, analytical, and sensitively written diagnostic assessment reports on service users. </p><p>Ensure appropriate and timely sharing of information with other agencies as required/with consent. </p><p>Develop and deliver a range of educational and training materials in a range of settings through different mediums. </p><p>Counselling Psychologist - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE </p><p>Relevant degree in Clinical Psychology and Registered member of HCPC. </p><p>Willingness to train in the use of specific autism and ADHD diagnostic assessment instruments </p>
