The role: We are currently seeking Lecturers to teach across a range of undergraduate levels as part of our BSc (Hons) Lecturer in Counselling programme. Due to our delivery model, we require flexibility to teach during weekdays, evenings and at weekends. ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES: <ul><li> Design, plan and deliver teaching sessions as required by the faculty. </li><li> Design assessments and assess student work, ensuring that all learning outcomes are met. </li><li> Provide timely and constructive feedback to students. </li><li> Provide academic support and guidance to students. </li><li> Develop, update, and continuously improve course materials. </li><li> Keep up to date with best practice in learning and teaching and ensure that your teaching reflects best practice and embeds technologies that enhance the learning experience. </li><li> Contribute to the design, development, delivery, review and enhancement of programmes of study within the faculty and across GBS. </li><li> Attend meetings as required by the role </li><li> Develop productive working relationships with colleagues within and external to GBS. </li><li> Participate in internal and external events, such as programme reviews, open days, outreach activities, and partner visits. </li><li> Undertake a reflective programme of staff development which includes teaching observations, directed study, workshop participation and experiential learning. </li><li> Support and engage in the creation, application and/or dissemination of new knowledge in your field of study and/or in higher education practice. </li><li> Engage with the GBS performance management programme, meeting a range of clearly defined objectives for student attendance, continuation, completion, progression and satisfaction. </li><li> Act as a Module Leader or undertake other administrative/management duties, commensurate with the level of the appointment, and as determined by the Dean or Deputy Dean. </li><li> Take on other responsibilities as required to support the work of GBS, which may include acting in a more senior capacity as part of a programme of professional development. </li></ul> ESSENTIAL SKILLS and EXPERIENCE: <ul><li> A Doctoral level qualification in counselling and/ or a demonstrable track record in research or other scholarly activity of relevance to counselling and/or demonstrable success at an equivalent level professionally. </li><li> Membership of an appropriate professional body with a complaints procedure to which you are subject. </li><li> Familiarity with, and agreement to work within, the current BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. </li><li> Experience of teaching in UK higher education. </li><li> A passion for education as a transformative activity. </li><li> Experience of, and a passion for, working in widening access environments. </li><li> Excellent IT skills and competence with the Microsoft Office suite, including PowerPoint and Excel </li><li> Excellent communication skills. </li><li> Experience of supervising student work and providing support and feedback. </li><li> Experience of supporting learners both face-to-face and remotely. </li><li> Demonstrable professional conduct in all interactions with staff and students. </li><li> Attention to detail and accurate reporting. </li><li> Ability to maintain thorough and organised student records. </li><li> Ability to work under pressure, plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines. </li><li> Ability to work with minimum supervision. </li><li> Ability to work with diverse groups of people. </li></ul> DESIRABLE SKILLS and EXPERIENCE: <ul><li> Current BACP counsellor/psychotherapist accreditation or be registered with an appropriate professional body to an equivalent level </li><li> In current, supervised practice as a counsellor </li><li> Teaching qualification: PGCHE, MA in HE Practice or FHEA etc </li></ul> KEY RESULT AREAS: <ul><li> Student attendance </li><li> Student submission rates </li><li> Student pass rates </li><li> Meeting or exceeding B3 thresholds </li></ul> OTHER INFORMATION: The Lecturer will also be expected to demonstrate their commitment to: <ul><li> GBS's values. policies and regulations, including the equal opportunities policy. </li><li> GBS's Social, Economic and Environmental responsibilities and minimise environmental impact in the performance of the role and actively contribute to the delivery of GBS's Environmental Policy. </li></ul> What we offer: <ul><li> 25 days annual leave, plus 8 public holiday </li><li> 1-day extra leave per year of service, up to a maximum of 5 days </li><li> Workplace pension scheme </li><li> Tuition reimbursement for career development courses </li><li> Flexible Benefits: Cycle to Work, Workplace Nursery, Tech scheme and much more </li><li> discounts platform, wellbeing centre and much more </li><li> Reward and recognition programme </li><li> £500 award employee referral scheme </li><li> Discretionary annual performance bonus </li></ul> "GBS has greatly supported my professional development by offering me a chance to teach diverse, non-traditional students and by sponsoring my FHEA application, which has been invaluable in consolidating my teaching practices." -
