<p>You will be joining us at an exciting time as we are developing a new pathway for young adults who present with complex trauma, and you will have a key role in contributing to this service development.&nbsp;There are opportunities for further training relevant to the therapeutic work.</p>

<p>You&nbsp;will provide a clinical service of specialist psychology assessments and interventions to a number of adult service users with&nbsp;acute mental health needs&nbsp;on the ward. You will also provide a specialist clinical perspective in relation to other service users with whom you might not be directly involved. Potters Bar uses a formulation driven and trauma informed model of care.</p>
<p>Reporting directly to the Lead Psychologist, you will be responsible for individual and group interventions, diagnostic and cognitive assessments, MDT working and risk assessments. You will also facilitate staff reflective practice sessions and be requested to design and deliver training.</p>
<p>As a Psychologist, you will have experience and knowledge in carrying a service user’s caseload, including assessing complex needs and designing and delivering specialist psychological treatments to support their care plans.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>As a Psychologist you will be:</strong></p>
<ul>
    <li>Working autonomously to provide a specialist psychology service to patients as agreed by Consultant Psychiatrist, Therapies Lead, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and in discussion with wider MDT.</li>
    <li>Undertaking specialist assessments.</li>
    <li>Providing specialist interventions according to formulations based on an appropriate conceptual framework, NICE guidelines, evidence from research, and in accordance with the wider MDT formulation and interventions.</li>
    <li>Be involved in running therapeutic groups on the ward as agreed.</li>
    <li>Continually monitor risk of all patients for whom there is direct contact, or regarding which the post holder receives relevant information, ensure acute risk is managed, liaise with MDT (and in particular responsible psychiatrist) regarding risk, and update electronic record including risk assessment as required.</li>
    <li>Ensuring that all clinical work is adequately recoded in the electronic patient record.</li>
    <li>Attending ward rounds (and other MDT meetings), case conferences, CPAs as required, and provide reports in advance for these in accordance with local procedures.</li>
    <li>Preparing clinical; reports as required, e.g. assessment reports, discharge summaries.</li>
    <li>Liaising with internal and external colleagues as required</li>
    <li>Completing all recording and reporting tasks associated with clinical work.</li>
    <li>Facilitating ‘reflective practice’ sessions for the ward-based staff as agreed within the psychological therapies team and in discussion with wider MDT.&nbsp;Please note that the reflective practice sessions take place at 7:30am and 7:30pm to cover day and night ward-based staff. There is flexibility in the working arrangements to accommodate these working patterns.</li>

  <p></p><p>We are excited to be recruiting a clinical or counselling psychologist based in Tier 4 Aquarius general adolescent unit, based at Springfield University Hospital working with young people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties. You will be working within a multi-disciplinary team and will have regular opportunities for CPD and training.</p> <p>Aquarius ward offers a service for 12- to 17-year-olds experiencing a range of significant and multiple mental health difficulties requiring inpatient treatment. This post will be based within the Aquarius MDT, with strong links with the Adolescent Outreach Team. We are able to offer this role as a full time or part time position.</p> <p>Please note candidates need to be qualified clinical/counselling psychologists (or about to qualify) and registered with the Health &amp; Care Professions Council or clearly state in their application how they are planning to achieve this registration.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p></p><p>We will also consider applications from newly qualified and recently qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologists eligible to occupy the post at band 7 in a preceptorship role. An applicant appointed to the band 7 preceptorship role will be supported through a preceptorship model that includes a professional and clinical development plan for continuing professional development training. A Preceptorship Clinical/Counselling Psychologist will be supported to acquire the knowledge, skills and experience that meet the person specifications for the post at band 8a after a period of 18 months. Where these conditions are met the post holder will be expected to progress to band 8a subject to successful interview.</p> <p>At Band 8a, there will be opportunities to attend supervision skills training, and supervise doctoral clinical psychology trainees, through strong links with the University of Surrey Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) Training Scheme</p> <p>Ideally the post holder will have experience of working within a specialist inpatient CAMHS service. We will offer in-house training, regular supervision and a thorough induction to all new staff. The post is a substantive role.</p>

      <h3>Job responsibilities</h3>
      <p></p><p>1. To provide specialist psychological assessments to children who are referred to the Team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the child or young persons care.</p> <p>2. To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of the mental health problems of children and young people who are based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of their problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy across the full range of care settings.</p> <p>3. To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological and psycho-educational interventions for individual children, carers, families and groups, within and across teams including community settings employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.</p> <p>4. To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options for children and their families in conjunction with other professional colleagues, taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family, group or system.</p> <p>5. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of children whose problems are managed by psychologically-based standard care plans.</p> <p>6. To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan for the children.</p> <p>7. To contribute directly and indirectly to a psychologically-based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all children, across all settings and agencies serving this client group.</p> <p>8. To undertake mental health risk assessment and risk management for individual children and young people and to provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management.</p> <p>9. To act as mental health care coordinator, where appropriate, taking responsibility for initiating planning and review of care plans under enhanced CPA including the children, their carers, referring agents and others involved the network of care. This includes organising case conferences and professional network meetings where appropriate.</p> <p>10.
