The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of a high standard cost-effective pre and post bereavement counselling without direct supervision both within the community and hospital settings. This will be based upon evidence-based practice in line with the legal requirements, statutory and Health Board policies relating to practice.</p> <p>Part time vacancies available ;-</p> <p>2 x 15 hour post and 1 x 7.5 hour post</p> <p>Ensure clients receive a safe, individualised and effective service by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating their care.</p> <p>You will communicate effectively at all times and in conjunction with other team members contributing to developing and maintaining the service philosophy for both adults and children working within the hospital environment.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>Participate in the maintenance and development of high quality support and care to clients within the Hywel Dda University Health Board area. Research evidence, best practice and expert clinical judgement will underpin this service.</p>
<p>Have supported responsibility for managing a defined caseload without direct supervision. The post-holder will assess, monitor and co-ordinate an individualised, therapeutic programme of care in partnership with clients appropriate to need, context and culture. The aim of this is to empower and promote health. This will be performed utilising recognised assessment tools as well as clinical judgement and an identified model of health promotion.</p>

<h2>Job summary</h2>
  <p>We are seeking an experienced and compassionate counsellor to join our team and help lead the delivery of a responsive and person-centred bereavement service.</p>
<p>The post holder will provide high-quality pre- and post-bereavement counselling to individuals and families, based on evidence-based practice and in line with statutory requirements and NHS policies. Working across hospital and community settings, you will support both adults and children, ensuring safe, individualised, and effective care.</p>
<p>This role also involves co-ordinating the day-to-day running of the counselling service, including the supervision and development of counsellors, students, and volunteers. You will contribute to service planning and development, and be responsible for maintaining high standards of practice and clinical governance.</p>
<p>The successful candidate will be able to work autonomously, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and bring both clinical expertise and leadership experience within a bereavement or counselling setting.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>The role involves day-to-day coordination of the Bereavement Support Service, including the management and support of a multidisciplinary team. The post holder will contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of high-quality bereavement care across the Hywel Dda University Health Board area, underpinned by research evidence, best practice, and clinical expertise.</p> <p>They will hold shared responsibility for managing a defined caseload independently, using recognised assessment tools and clinical judgement to deliver holistic, personalised therapeutic care. This includes assessing, monitoring, and coordinating support programmes in partnership with clients and other professionals, tailored to individual needs, context, and culture -- with the aim of promoting health and empowerment.</p> <p>The post holder will be expected to recognise, report, and respond appropriately to any unsafe practices, while actively promoting high standards of care. <p><strong>Job Title:</strong> Senior Clinical Psychologist</p><p><strong>Location:</strong> Ty Aberdafen</p><p><strong>Salary:</strong> Band 8, £55,690 - £62,682 per annum (DOE, Full-Time Equivalent)</p><p><strong>Additional:</strong> £6,000 Golden Hello Bonus (FTE)</p><strong>Job Purpose</strong><p>As a Senior Clinical Psychologist at Ty Aberdafen, you will provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention to adults with acquired brain injuries and neurological conditions. You will lead on clinical practice within the psychology team, contribute to multidisciplinary rehabilitation planning, and support service development in line with best practice and organisational values.</p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong><ul><li>Deliver high-quality psychological assessments, interventions, and evidence-based therapies tailored to complex neurological and cognitive presentations</li><li>Provide clinical leadership and expert advice within the psychology service and wider multidisciplinary team</li><li>Supervise, mentor, and support junior psychologists and trainees</li><li>Participate in service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives</li><li>Contribute to risk management, safeguarding, and clinical governance standards</li><li>Liaise with service users, families, carers, and external agencies to ensure holistic care and positive outcomes</li><li>Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to reporting requirements</li><li>Support and promote professional development and reflective practice within the team</li></ul><strong>Person Specification</strong><p><strong>Essential:</strong></p><ul><li>Chartered Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)</li><li>Significant post-qualification experience, preferably within neuropsychology or acquired brain injury rehabilitation</li><li>Proven ability to lead clinical practice and manage complex cases</li><li>Experience supervising and developing junior staff or trainees</li><li>Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills</li><li>Commitment to evidence-based practice and professional development</li></ul>
