Lead Clinical Psychologist

  <p>We're seeking a passionate and experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (Band 8a, 1.0 WTE) to help shape and deliver psychologically-informed care in our 24/7 recovery house service--a short-stay alternative to hospital admission for adults experiencing acute mental health distress.Working flexibly within a multidisciplinary team, you'll provide trauma-informed assessments, brief interventions, and psychological leadership in a recovery-focused, inclusive environment that centres lived experience and cultural safety.</p> <p>Recovery House (RH)is a new and innovative service we are launching that meets an important need for people(18+)experiencing poor mental health. The RH will provide those in crisis with a safe, secure and welcoming environment to support the de-escalation of crisis. The House will be open to new and existing BSMHFT service users and will provide a homely environment, allowing people to retain independence, whilst receiving person centred and appropriate care.</p> <p>The service which is part of the Trust's Urgent Care pathway is a partnership with Birmingham Mind and builds on the range of strong collaborations we have with the voluntary sector.</p> <p>The RH will serve as a base for community integration, allowing service users to connect with local communities and provision, as well as their family/carers.</p>   <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>Tasks include:</p> <p>o Provide psychological formulations and short-term interventions (CBT, trauma-informed approaches)</p> <p>o Supervise and develop a Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner, colleagues in the team and support workers</p> <p>o Support the team in crisis planning, reflective practice, and risk formulation</p> <p>o Embed culturally responsive and trauma-informed care across the service</p> <p>o Liaise with NHS and community services to support safe transitions</p> <p>You will also input one day a week into our Home Treatment service. You will be professionally accountable to the Principal Psychologist Lead for Home Treatment and line managed by the Recovery House's Team Manager.</p>

  <p>A rare and exciting vacancy has arisen for a passionate and highly motivated band 7/8a Practitioner Psychologist to join our Secure CAMHS team.</p> <p>The Secure CAMHS (SCAMHS) service sits within the Ardenleigh site and offers treatment for up to 11 young people, across two wards. It has received accreditations from QNIC and the National Autistic Society and a quality review in June 2024 highlighted strengths in a positive team culture, great relationships between young people and staff and comprehensive therapeutic provision. </p> <p>The young people we work with have often experienced significant difficulties in their lives and presentations include trauma, mental illness, personality difficulties, neurodevelopment difficulties and harm to self and/or others. As a team psychologist, you will work alongside a range of professionals, providing safe, containing environments and interventions to help the young people understand themselves, their mental health and offending behaviour. Within the role you will have opportunities to provide individual and group interventions, supervision and management of others, and be involved in training, service development, audit and evaluation.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>The service has a strong multi-disciplinary team ethos, in which psychology is well established and respected. It is committed to providing the best care for young people, and as such service user involvement and co-production are central to what we do. Recently, alongside service users and family members, the team co-wrote an article looking at a group written and delivered by young people and the experiences of having a child in a secure hospital.</p> <p>As a service we are committed to supporting our staff to have a positive experience of their time at work. This includes both secure and non-secure services. </p> <p>Your role will be to provide support to the qualified Clinical team in delivering a high quality psychology service within some of the inpatient services, working in a multi-disciplinary team and engaging with young people and adults with complex needs and who can display a range of behavioural challenge. These are busy professional roles in which energy, initiative and reflective practice are vital.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>The post holder would be joining a dynamic team with a range of clinical interests and expertise in a variety of therapeutic models including DBT, Compassion Focussed, EMDR and Narrative approaches.</p> <p>Positive Behavioural Support is a major part of our treatment philosophy and the service ethos is to ensure that effective, evidence based interventions are provided to people who can present considerable risk, to ensure that they can return to a less restrictive environment in the community as soon as possible.</p> <p>All members of the team receive excellent support, good quality supervision and opportunities for continuing professional development. There are good links with psychological services staff across the Trust, developing Special Interest Groups across speciality and an annual conference. The Psychological services team also has strong links with local clinical and forensic training courses, and regularly provides placements for trainee clinical and forensic psychologists, supervision for DClinPsy and DForPsy research, and teaching on the courses.</p> <p>Candidates with experience of working within a range of clinical settings including CAMHS, Forensic, Mental Health, Social Care and Learning Disabilities are welcomed.
