As an Assistant Psychologist, working 37.5 hours a week, you will assist in clinically related activities and administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, and training of staff. You will engage with the multidisciplinary team and ensure that the service users are fully engaged in their care pathway.
Your role will include a significant focus on providing behavioural support to Autistic adults and adults with a Learning Disability.&nbsp; You will develop and implement individualised behavioural support plans based on service users’ needs and goals, including encouraging independence and development of life skills with a focus on improving quality of life. 
You will be responsible for functional behaviour assessments and observations, positive behavioural support planning and implementations, incident analysis and facilitating PBS workshops and other training programmes. 
Training opportunities will be available for the successful candidate along with clinical and management supervision.
The role involves travelling to different services within a geographical region so a driving licence and access to a car would be required to fulfil this role.

Thornford Park Hospital, part of Elysium Healthcare, is an independent 143 bedded hospital set in 23 acres of parkland on the outskirts of Newbury, Berkshire (close to the Hampshire borders).
We provide services for male and female patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) who require care in conditions of medium and low security. Our service users, many of whom have forensic histories, require long-term treatment and rehabilitation and present with multiple problems, challenging and high-risk behaviour and complex care needs. In addition to the mental health wards, Thornford Park has a 14-bedded low secure service for male patients with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, commissioned by NHS England, a medium/low secure service for females with a Learning Disability, and a medium secure service for males with Learning Disability. We also have two Psychiatric Intensive Care Units, one for males and one for females, providing holistic assessment and treatment for individuals experiencing crisis

Supervising an Assistant Psychologist and working closely with clinicians from a range of disciplines, your specialist input will be key in achieving good patient outcomes. With the support of the team, you will administer neuropsychological and psychometric assessments that support the formulation of behavioural interventions seeking to manage challenging behaviour and enhance rehabilitation. 
You will support therapeutic sessions by engaging in induvial and groupwork sessions, where appropriate, alongside other members of the team, and will assist in clinically relevant administrative duties, including developing and conducting audits, analysing and interpreting behavioural data, and developing and delivering staff training. In addition, you will join the senior management team and input into clinical governance, ensuring that the psychologically led model is both evaluated and effective.
