The service contributes to tackling inequalities in health through promoting and supporting people to develop healthier behaviours and lifestyles in the context of their own local communities.</p><p>As well as supporting the community with improving their physical and emotional heath, we also prioritise our staff wellbeing.   <p>We are looking for a clinical psychologist who is interested in developing their skills further within the Bedford Community Access Pathway. </p>  <p>This post is based within Bedford Community Access Service CAMHS (CAS) Service, and which provides a specialist service, to young people, their families/caring network, working closely with external partners including Education, Local Authority and Primary Care. This is a community-based post, located within Bedford CAMHS, offering flexible, evidence-based episodes of care, assessments and treatments, group-work and psychoeducation to children, young people and parent/carers.</p>  <p>Bedford CAS provides specialist therapeutic interventions to children, adolescents and their families from a wide range of social and ethnic backgrounds, whose problems cause mild to moderate levels of concern to themselves, their parents/carers, professionals and the wider community. The team also works closely with the locality CAMH teams to provide a seamless multi-disciplinary service.</p>  <p>The team is part of wider and comprehensive Bedfordshire Specialist CAMH Services that offers a comprehensive stepped model of mental health care, from early intervention partnerships with all our schools and GP practices, to the imminent opening of an adolescent inpatient unit with intensive home treatment care, providing for all four quadrants of the Thrive model.   <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>The role will include the provision of specialist advice/consultation to the network around the young person, psychological assessment, liaison with other agencies, psychology interventions, cognitive assessments, delivering training and workshops, supporting and informing on the trauma-based care for the children and young people and their caring networks, helping to develop a system of care and embedding a trauma-informed approach with partner agencies, clinical supervision (Band 8A) and line management (Band 8A). </p>  <p>At Band 8A, the post holder will be an experienced psychologist with a substantial knowledge in the field of child and adolescent mental health, with an awareness of the social, emotional and psychological impact of care experienced young people. They will clinically supervise the work of trainee psychologists and other psychologists as needed, and offer management supervision to other members of the team. <p>You&nbsp;will provide a clinical service of specialist psychology assessments and interventions to a number of adult service users with&nbsp;acute mental health needs&nbsp;on the ward. You will also provide a specialist clinical perspective in relation to other service users with whom you might not be directly involved. Potters Bar uses a formulation driven and trauma informed model of care.</p>
<p>Reporting directly to the Lead Psychologist, you will be responsible for individual and group interventions, diagnostic and cognitive assessments, MDT working and risk assessments. You will also facilitate staff reflective practice sessions and be requested to design and deliver training.</p>
<p>As a Psychologist, you will have experience and knowledge in carrying a service user’s caseload, including assessing complex needs and designing and delivering specialist psychological treatments to support their care plans.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>As a Psychologist you will be:</strong></p>
<ul>
    <li>Working autonomously to provide a specialist psychology service to patients as agreed by Consultant Psychiatrist, Therapies Lead, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and in discussion with wider MDT.</li>
    <li>Undertaking specialist assessments.</li>
    <li>Providing specialist interventions according to formulations based on an appropriate conceptual framework, NICE guidelines, evidence from research, and in accordance with the wider MDT formulation and interventions.</li>
    <li>Be involved in running therapeutic groups on the ward as agreed.</li>
    <li>Continually monitor risk of all patients for whom there is direct contact, or regarding which the post holder receives relevant information, ensure acute risk is managed, liaise with MDT (and in particular responsible psychiatrist) regarding risk, and update electronic record including risk assessment as required.</li>
    <li>Ensuring that all clinical work is adequately recoded in the electronic patient record.</li>
    <li>Attending ward rounds (and other MDT meetings), case conferences, CPAs as required, and provide reports in advance for these in accordance with local procedures.</li>
    <li>Preparing clinical; reports as required, e.g. assessment reports, discharge summaries.</li>
    <li>Liaising with internal and external colleagues as required</li>
    <li>Completing all recording and reporting tasks associated with clinical work.</li>
</ul>
<p>&nbsp;<strong>To be successful in this role, you'll need:</strong></p>
<ul type="disc">
    <li>Have BPS recognised psychology degrees</li>
    <li>Be HCPC registered</li>
    <li>Have understanding of evidence-based psychological practice</li>
    <li>Have experience of applying psychological knowledge to a psychiatric setting</li>
    <li>Experience in inpatient work preferable but not essential</li>
</ul>
