<p>Thornford Park Hospital, part of Elysium Healthcare, is an independent 143 bedded hospital set in 23 acres of parkland on the outskirts of Newbury, Berkshire (close to the Hampshire borders).</p>
<p>We provide services for male and female patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) who require care in conditions of medium and low security. Our service users, many of whom have forensic histories, require long-term treatment and rehabilitation and present with multiple problems, challenging and high-risk behaviour and complex care needs. We have an exciting opportunity, due to retirement of the current post holder, to join our Family and Bereavement Support Team. 

Family and Bereavement Counsellor and Support Workers provide emotional and psychological support to parents of babies and children living with a life-threatening illness, or life limiting condition; and provide grief education, emotional and psychological support to parents and grandparents for up to 2 years following the death of a baby or child. Family and Bereavement Counsellor and Support Workers help parents and grandparents with managing their emotions and coping with grief, building their resilience and empowering them at level 1-2 of the Bereavement Network Europe Model. We help clients to access level 3 intervention if they require this.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>Applicants will have experience of working therapeutically with individuals experiencing loss and change, youll be compassionate, sensitive, creative and a great communicator. A relevant qualification is essential and this maybe a Diploma in Counselling, Registered Nurse, or Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker with counselling experience or with significant experience of working with grief and loss.  Ideally, youll have experience of working with bereaved parents and have experience of running peer-to-peer bereavement support groups. The post holder will work onsite at Helen &amp; Douglas House Childrens Hospice, in hospital settings and in parents own homes. It is therefore vital to be able to drive and to have a car as the hospice covers 6 surrounding counties.

Clinical supervision is provided in line with British Association of Psychology and Counselling standards which will also complement your resilience and self-care skills. The hours in client facing work count as counselling hours.</p>

  <p><strong>We're looking to recruit a Senior Peer Support Worker to join our team to support other Peer Support Workers, team members and service users.</strong></p>
<p><em><strong>This vacancy is open to existing Oxford Health Peer Support Workers and people with experience of working in a peer support role in another organisation.</strong></em></p>
<p>Peer Support Workers (PSW's) are people who have their own lived experience of mental health challenges. They use empathy informed by their own experiences to support service users who are accessing mental health services and their families.</p>
<p>This part time vacancy is for a position within our new South Oxfordshire Primary Care Mental Health Team (PCMHT). You will be based at the Wantage Keystone hub and covering the Didcot area.</p>
<p>PCMHTs are comprised of professionals from health and social care including mental health professionals from the NHS, the third-sector and people who have experienced mental health challenges themselves.</p>
<p>Each PCMHT has one or more Keystone Hubs - developed to provide more specialist care at local level via their GP surgery, and improved communication between GPs and mental health services and form a core of the strengthening of community mental health services in Oxfordshire.</p>
<p>Oxford Health offer the Peer Support Training programme as a nationally recognised accredited Level 3 Apprenticeship (fully funded by Oxford Health) this is completed over a period of 15-19 months depending on whether a Peer Support Worker works part time or full time (22.5-37.5 hours).</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>The Senior Peer Support Worker will be responsible for supporting the current PSWs to successfully embed the role within the clinical area, to support with their caseloads and to offer mentoring around using their lived experience to support others. This is in addition to, providing support with individual service users and leading or co-leading groups.</p>
<p><strong>Lived experience: </strong></p>

<li>Drawing on lived experience of mental health to provide emotional and practical support to an allocated group of service users to promote their recovery.</li>
<li>Experience in delivering peer support and have a clear understanding of the peer support model within the NHS</li>
<li>To support service users to engage effectively with care being offered and access appropriate services</li>
<li>To build relationships that are founded on the value of mutuality which will facilitate the provision of regular and practical support, both one to one and via group facilitation, to service users in developing and managing independence and maintaining dignity and self-respect.</li>

The role presents a fantastic opportunity for someone to develop and broaden their leadership skills - mentoring, supervising, and developing the careers and skills of others, as well as yourself.</p> <p>The MDT consists of medics, psychological therapists, social workers, OTs, RMNs and support workers, as well as embedded workers from the third sector to support with employment, housing and social needs. The team is highly supportive and committed to delivering high quality patient care; where the caseload can be demanding, diverse and frequently complex.</p> <p>We care deeply about our patients and their loved ones and believe in listening and responding as a team; piloting new models, supporting each other and developing and using new care approaches. We aim to improve patient care as well as provide increase staff satisfaction and sense of achievement.</p> <p>You <em><strong>will </strong></em>need to be able to travel around the county, to offer interventions to patients and carers, so access to transport is essential.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>

<li>Working within the treatment function of the AMHT you will co-ordinate the care for patients with severe and enduring mental health diagnosis.</li>
<li>You will work autonomously, with a caseload of patients with whom you will engage and offer the recommended treatment and support.</li>
<li>You will have experience of providing community mental health care and able to assess and plan treatment with service users.</li>
<li>You will also be able to assess and manage risk, including use of Safeguarding processes.</li>

<p>There are opportunities for team working and facilitating groups such as MBT/CBT based interventions.</p>
<p>Our AMHT provide an assessment and treatment function and the staff working within the team work on a rota covering shifts from 07.00 to 21.00 (7 days/week). The successful candidate will be required to work mainly 9-5 Monday to Friday however there is an expectation that there is flexibility to cover the out of hours shifts when required.</p>
