Senior Wellbeing Practitioner

<h2>Job summary</h2>
  <p>An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Trainee
Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner to work within Sunderland Talking
Therapies and study at Teesside University. The position is full time hours
(37.5 per week) and will be a combination of university and placement days,
paid at Band 4 until successful completion of the course and PWP registration
in place. This employment is dependent on completion of the course and once
qualified, PWPs are paid at NHS Band 5 equivalent. Unfortunately if you are
unsuccessful at completing the course unfortunately your employment contract
will be terminated.</p>

  <p>The PWP course runs for 1 academic year, and you will be required to meet the demands of balancing a high caseload whilst completing the academic components of the role. You will work towards a Post Graduate Certificate in Low Intensity Psychological Therapies and work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary. The training post will equip the post holder to provide a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self-help interventions to patients with anxiety and depression. The post-holder will attend all taught and self-study days required by the education provider, as specified within National Low Intensity curriculum, and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills.</p>  <h3>About us</h3>
  <p>The successful applicant will be employed on Sunderland
Counselling Service (SCS) terms and conditions, working within Sunderland
Talking Therapies as a sub-contractor. The successful candidate will be
entitled to SCS benefits such as access to our 24/7 employee assistance
programme to support wellbeing and will be within a
probationary period for 12 months. Sunderland Talking Therapies consists of
a large multidisciplinary team including PWPs, Community Practitioners, High
Intensity Therapies (of multiple modalities) and a counsellor. A Senior
Management Team including Team Managers, Clinical Leads, Senior PWPs, Low
Intensity Service Leads and a Clinical Manager oversee the service and support
staff. Sunderland Talking Therapies also works as a single point of access for
patients entering Talking Therapies or Counselling via Sunderland Counselling
Service, Sunderland Mind and Washington Mind. </p><p>Our PWP workforce is a valuable and highly respected element
of the service. The PWP role in our service is varied and will allow you to
gain a wide range of experience and skills.

Military Veterans, a community transition service and a range of MHTR services
across the midlands and east of England. We support LightBulb a schools based
mental wellness programme and are able to offer a comprehensive development
plan for those wishing to gain a range of experience.</p><p><strong>The Role and Person</strong></p><p>You will be responsible for delivering
outcome based psychological therapy that is uniquely tailored to meet the needs
of service users living in the region.You will supervise a number of
assistant psychologist supporting them in a manualised treatment approach,
whilst working with the wider team on more complex cases. You will be offered
supervision from a consultant Psychologist working within our service, they
will encourage you to develop your strengths and skills with opportunities for
professional development. </p><p>The service is community based and
appointments are offered where possible in the service users locality as well
as remotely via telephone and video. As some travel will be required, a

<p>Cygnet Hospital Woking offers a range of mental health services for men and women. Cygnet Lodge Woking, our sister hospital close by, provides a high dependency inpatient rehabilitation service for men and extends our care pathway.</p>

<p><strong>Your Day-to-Day</strong></p>

<ul>
 <li>Youll be working 36 hours a week</li>
 <li>Opportunity to work on our Male land Female low secure ward</li>
 <li>Work as a team Psychologist within a multidisciplinary team (MDT)</li>
 <li>Carry out psychological assessments &amp; provide therapy to individuals &amp; groups</li>
 <li>Collaboratively develop care plans with the MDT</li>
 <li>Provide training &amp; supervision to colleagues, &amp; consultation to teams</li>
 <li>Evaluate the service, contribute to its development &amp; carry out clinical research</li>
 <li>Disseminate outcomes via conference presentations and publications.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>We are looking for someone who is...</strong></p>

<ul>
 <li>A HCPC registered Clinical or Forensic Psychologist with experience in a clinical forensic or mental health setting</li>
 <li>Preferably trained in complex therapies such as Schema focused, Cognitive Analytical and DBT</li>
 <li>Passionate about working with people with a range of complex mental health needs</li>
 <li>Capable of treating difficulties such as self-harm, physical &amp; verbal aggression, history of sexual offending and drug &amp; alcohol problems.</li>
