Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner

  <p>This is an exciting time to join us in making a real change for children and young people across our area, as we are looking for a <strong>Children and Young People's Well-Being Practitioner</strong> to work in our team of experienced clinical psychologists, specialist epilepsy nurses and consultant paediatricians based at York Hospital. </p> <p>We are delighted to be chosen as a national pilot site for integrating mental health support into children and young people's epilepsy care.   <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>Your role will be to deliver an innovative, manualised CBT-based intervention, to children and young people who have been screened by their team and shown to require psychological support. This intervention, MICE (Mental Health Intervention for Children with Epilepsy), is designed to improve the treatment of mental health problems in young people with epilepsy and has been shown to be effective in a large-scale research project. </p> <p>It can be delivered by telephone, video conferencing or face to face, and training will be provided. You will be using evidence-based interventions with supervision from the senior clinical psychologist. This will include a range of therapeutic self-management interventions to children and young people with mild to moderate psychological problems, as well as the administration and teaching of psycho-educational classes to groups of parents and children and young people.</p> <p><strong>Team &amp; Support</strong></p> <ul>  <li><strong>York Hospital Paediatric Psychology Service</strong>, part of a larger<strong>Department of Psychological Medicine</strong>.</li>  <li>Supervision and collaboration with experienced psychologists including:   <ul>    <li><strong>Dr Emma Peakman</strong>- Consultant Clinical Psychologist</li>    <li><strong>Dr Anya Knight</strong> - Senior Clinical Psychologist</li>   </ul> </li> </ul> <p>You will be joining a dedicated paediatric psychology team and have opportunities to continue to learn and develop. </p>

The main focus of this role will be supporting Trainee PWPs within Health in Mind. The role will work within the Eastbourne area of East Sussex.</p> <p>Health in Mind is a Talking Therapies for Anxiety &amp; Depression Service (TTAD) that offers a full range of TTAD compliant therapies and job roles. As a service we support people presenting with mild to moderate anxiety disorders and depression.   <p>An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Sunderland Talking Therapies to appoint a Qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner. The position is for either a qualified PWP who holds a PWP accreditation or a Trainee PWP who is nearing the end of training due to be ratified, and wants to develop their skills and experience within our team. The post is full-time (37.5) however we are open to applications for part-time hours. The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.</p><p>Interviews for this post will take place on 9th October 2025.</p><p>The successful candidate should: </p><ul><li>Have successfully completed an academic course of study in line with the IAPT Low Intensity National Programme and be qualified as a PWP (e.g. PG Cert Low Intensity Psychological Therapies)</li> <li>We are also interested in receiving applications from current Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners who are enrolled on a PG Cert in Low Intensity Psychological Therapies and are due to qualify.   <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>The LTC Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner will deliver a range of low intensity interventions to clients diagnosed with LTC (Diabetes, Cancer, Respiratory diseases, Cardiovascular diseases) who have significant social and psychological issues. Work will include completing an assessment of the clients situation with possible follow up sessions of one-to-one guided self help and/or group work informed by the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). The post holder will have a role in mental health promotion and the prevention of mental distress. They will also support the development of psychological knowledge and skills to other primary care practitioners. The post-holder will also liaise with all relevant health and social care partners, present a positive perspective on the mental health issues of people with long term conditions, have a key role in developing projects and initiatives across the area and will also participate in audit and evaluation.</p>
