  <p>The role of a PWP is very dynamic, and though at its core is the treatment of Depression and anxiety, no two days are the same.</p>

Do you want the chance to help shape a new and genuinely innovative service for the women of Kent and Medway?</strong></p> <p>We're creating Kent and Medway's first, and only, NHS Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for women, and are seeking a talented <strong>Principal Psychologist</strong> to help us deliver this vital service.</p> <p>Please note that the start date for this post will be January 2026, to allow for sufficient time for onboarding, induction, and training before the anticipated arrival of the first patient in April 2026.</p> <p>We are looking for an enthusiastic Clinical/Forensic/Counselling Psychologist with clinical and managerial leadership experience to provide specialist clinical input to the Female PICU. You will have an important strategic and liaison function to support the transition of patients between services.   <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <ul>  <li>The systematic provision of Specialist Psychological Therapy to the patients in PICU.</li>  <li>To undertake high quality direct (assessment and therapeutic) and indirect (consultative, advisory and evaluative) specialist psychology interventions.</li>  <li>To ensure the clinical effectiveness of the service, taking on a leadership and service development role within the PICU service.</li>  <li>To be regularly responsible for providing training to the MDT and providing professional support, guidance and supervision to psychological therapists in the service.</li> </ul> <p>A PICU is a dynamic environment and there will be the expectation that the candidate is able to take substantial professional responsibility and work autonomously providing high quality direct work which will include psychological assessments, formulations and brief therapeutic work, groups, family and individual work as well as assisting with positive behaviour support plans. The indirect (consultative, advisory and evaluative) work includes systemic work with staff, reflective case discussions and Serious Incident debriefs.</p>

  <p>We are seeking to recruit a full-time Band 8a Senior Applied Psychologist in Adult Community Mental Health (Planned Care) at Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHFT). You would join our community-based psychological therapies service for working age adults within secondary care services; you would work within our Community Mental Health Team in Dudley Northand potentially across the locality according to service need.</p>  <p>We would also welcome applications from newly qualified Psychologists who are seeking a Preceptorship post from Band 7 to 8a.</p>  <p>We are a combination of Practitioner Psychologists, CBT Therapists and DBT Therapists offering a range of group and individual therapies in line with recovery models of care and trauma-informed practice. <p>Thornford Park Hospital, part of Elysium Healthcare, is an independent 143 bedded hospital set in 23 acres of parkland on the outskirts of Newbury, Berkshire (close to the Hampshire borders).</p>
<p>We provide services for male and female patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) who require care in conditions of medium and low security. Our service users, many of whom have forensic histories, require long-term treatment and rehabilitation and present with multiple problems, challenging and high-risk behaviour and complex care needs. In addition to the mental health wards, Thornford Park has a 14-bedded low secure service for male patients with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, commissioned by NHS England, a medium/low secure service for females with a Learning Disability, and a medium secure service for males with Learning Disability.
