There may be additional days that you will need to attend in person but notice will be given as far in advance as possible. We also require you to attend a weekly in-person clinic, this will be decided by your line manager depending on service needs and your location.

  <p>The post holder will provide a high quality, specialist applied psychology service to clients, their families or carers, where there are complex and comorbid presentations. They will have assessment, intervention and formulation skills in a range of psychological models, including CBT and attachment-based models. The post holder will be expected to take a clinical leadership roleand to have supervisory experience. They will be responsible for the supervision of Assistant Psychologists, Clinical Trainees and Psychology Graduate Volunteers and will support psychological practice within the wider team through consultation, supervision, formulation and training. They will utilise research skills for audit and research within the area and contribute to service improvement and development.</p> <p>There will be opportunities to lead on pathway developments as part of the transformation developing the psychological offer and supporting the MDT in psychological thinking. Respiratory Therapy Assistant Practitioner

<h2>Job summary</h2>
  <p>We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed assistant psychologist to perform at a band 4, and join our well established service in adult mental health for people who live in South West Kent and Maidstone (West).</p> <p>The post holder will be based for 2.5 days at Albion Place in Maidstone and 2.5 days at Highlands House in Tunbridge Wells within the Psychological Therapies service which includes psychological clinicians of several disciplines.</p> <p>We work closely with our colleagues in both tertiary and Community Mental Health Together and MHT Plus team.</p> <p>You would participate in weekly meetings, which included peer group supervision and group supervision from an external supervisor, in addition to individual management and clinical supervision. <strong>There will be a requirement to travel between our Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells trust sites in a timely manner.</strong></p> <p>As a team, we offer a comprehensive service to adults with complex and longstanding mental health conditions and emotional difficulties. We offer individual therapy including EMDR and various group interventions including MBT, Art therapy, DBT and also have a Systemic Family Therapy team.</p>



  <h3>Main duties of the job</h3>
  <p>To participate in the provision of direct clinical work through the delivery of manualised psychologically informed structured interventions as part of Psychological Services to adults with mental health difficulties within the community &amp; recovery service line of Kent &amp; Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust.</p> <p>In particular:</p> <ul>  <li>To deliver 'initial interventions' to people accessing adult mental health services as part of the Clinical Care Pathways in the CMHT. Specific and targeted training will be provided by experienced Psychological Practitioners and all interventions supported by weekly clinical supervision from Psychological Practitioners.</li>  <li>To undertake other structured therapeutic psychological interventions in an identified service or services using own independent initiative within guidelines provided by a qualified psychologist.</li>  <li>To undertake clinical and service performance related administration, audit and research projects, teaching and service improvement project work under the professional guidance of a qualified psychologist. This includes overseeing the clinical outcomes project for psychological therapies across the North Kent directorate</li>  <li>To undertake training in the delivery of the CBT informed intervention known as 'Initial Interventions' delivered by a group of specialist psychological practitioners</li>  <li>To provide psychological guidance and support to carers and families of service users under clinical supervision of a psychological therapist.</li> </ul>

They will support clients in developing recovery-focused goals, encouraging engagement in services, community life, and personal development, while also providing emotional and practical assistance during this transition. This includes accompanying clients to appointments, meetings, or community activities where additional support is needed. They will work collaboratively with carers, families, and professionals to ensure a holistic, integrated approach to care and sustained community inclusion. The role also involves facilitating access to local community resources and opportunities aligned with clients' interests and wellbeing goals, as well as identifying and helping to develop new partnerships and services that promote mental health and reduce inequalities. They will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of all interactions, support plans, assessments, and outcomes in line with data protection and service standards. Monitoring client wellbeing, addressing emerging risks, and escalating safeguarding or crisis concerns as necessary will also be key responsibilities. They will have lived experience of mental health challenges and secondary care use, along with supportive life experiences that inspire others. Experience in support roles, teamwork, and knowledge of recovery tools and principles is essential, as is an awareness of issues like stigma and discrimination. Desirable experience includes psychiatric hospital admission, mentoring, working in public or voluntary sectors, cross-organisational collaboration, and knowledge of local mental health services. Strong written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills are required, along with basic IT proficiency; skills in Microsoft Office or additional languages are a plus.
