We are recruiting for 2:1 SEMH Behaviour Mentor on a full time basis Mon-Fri at a lovely primary school in West Hallam DE7, Derbyshire
The position will initially start on Monday a temporary contract until the end of the acadmeic year.
The school are looking to appoint enthusiastic and motivated SEN SEMH behaviour mentor who is confident in understanding the KS1/2 Framework and can deliver activities at an age appropriate level.
The Role:
- Plan Age-Appropriate Activities: Create and implement educational activities and experiences that are engaging, enjoyable, and suitable for the developmental stage of the children.
- Tailor Learning to Individual Needs: Recognize and respond to the different developmental stages, learning styles, and interests of each child.
- Follow KS1/2 Framework: Adhere to the KS1/2 principles, which include seven areas of learning and development (Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, and Expressive Arts and Design).
- Observe and Assess Children: Regularly observe children to assess their development and learning, using both formal and informal methods.
- Record Progress: Keep detailed records of children's progress in each area of learning, documenting achievements, milestones, and any areas where they may need additional support.
- Provide Individual Support: Offer tailored support for children with additional needs or those who may require extra help in certain areas of development.
- Promote Positive Behavior: Set clear expectations for behavior and provide consistent praise and rewards for good behavior.
- Model Behavior: Demonstrate appropriate social behavior and help children understand the impact of their actions on others.
- Support Emotional Development: Help children manage their emotions, understand empathy, and develop resilience.
The Ideal Candidates:
- Will have a Teaching Assistant or EYFS Practitioner qualification, though this is not essential
- Have previous experience working within school settings (including Private Day Nurseries)
- Have a DBS on the Update Service (or are willing to apply for one)
- Are able to multitask and prioritise tasks in order of importance
Please note - to qualify for the higher end of the pay scale you must have at least two years' experience working within an Early Years environment.
