Role Overview

Provide low intensity CBT based interventions as part of a 1 year fixed term training post. Deliver evidence based treatment to clients with common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression while studying the Low Intensity Psychological Therapy PGCert with Newcastle University (start 14 September 2026). Work in a motivated team of mental health professionals and experienced supervisors who support academic and clinical progression.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver low intensity CBT interventions to clients.
  • Attend university teaching (Monday and Tuesday) and clinical practice days.
  • Complete supervision and reflect on clinical practice.
  • Maintain accurate and timely administrative records.
  • Participate in programme development and CPD activities.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Undergraduate degree or evidence of previous successful study at Regulated Qualifications Framework Level 5 or Level 6.
  • At least one year of working experience in settings with high exposure to people with mental health difficulties.
  • Interpersonal skills to engage and develop working alliances with colleagues and patients.
  • Openness to learning new knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent administrative and time management skills.
  • Flexibility to provide out of hours clinics and one late shift (12-8 pm) during the training year.
  • Commitment to supporting diversity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge and use of CBT techniques for common mental health difficulties.
  • Experience of telephone and remote working.
Other Requirements
