Senior Psychologist - National Security Division (NSD) Psychology Team

Psychology Services Group is recruiting senior psychologists to join the expanding NSD Psychology team within the Directorate of Security (DoS) to contribute to the provision of psychological services. The NSD provides an enhanced level of management and intervention for the most high risk, complex and high profile offenders in the community. The team is based across five geographical units (Wales/SW, Midlands, North, London/KSS and East/South Central) and currently each unit has a Senior Psychologist allocated. We are looking to expand the team to provide further coverage nationally, particularly to our busiest areas. The role will be based within NSD London, Kent, Surrey, Sussex region, with the successful candidate also expected to provide coverage to other regions or national projects as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote the role of Psychology Services Group within this field.
  • Provide clinical guidance and support to the management of individuals in this cohort, including support to the multi disciplinary team via MAPPA, core groups and case consultations. For the most complex individuals, undertake direct risk assessment and/or interventions.
  • Support wider Psychology Services Group colleagues around assessment and/or intervention of the offenders in this cohort.
  • Provide supervision and support to the NSD MDT team in the region, involved in release planning and ongoing management of TACT and other high risk/high harm cases.
  • Conduct other core components of senior psychologist roles, including line management duties and/or supervision of trainee psychologists.

Due to the nature of this role, routine travel across the NSD areas will be expected.

The position requires a minimum SC security clearance.
