The School was launched in September 2016 and has grown into one of China's leading international schools. Harrow Shanghai pupils are engaged, aspirational and hard working, their parents are highly supportive and the staff are committed and close-knit. The community is exceptionally strong. Pupils achieve highly both within and outside the classroom and go on to enter many of the world's most competitive universities, including Oxbridge. Over the last four years, our Upper Sixth leavers have achieved an average of close to 75% A*/A grades across all A Levels taken. IGCSE results are also impressive, as is the progress achieved by our younger pupils.
Harrow is, though, about much more than simply outstanding academic results. Our pupils excel in a wide range of fields, including music, drama, sport and the arts, as well as involving themselves in service to the local community.
The School is seeking an exceptional Senior Academic University Counsellor to commence in post in August 2026. This is a significant position, reporting to the Head of Upper School, and with direct responsibility for ensuring that our children continue to go to the world's best universities. It also has a significant development role as we extend our university and careers counselling to support the whole of our Upper School.
We are hoping to appoint a Humanities, Mathematics or Science teacher for this position, as we have teaching needs in those areas, but our primary purpose is to empty the best senior member of staff we can, and so we are open to candidates with any teaching specialism. You can expect to teach 12-15 periods a week.
The post holder will be, therefore, an outstanding teacher! All teachers, including the Head Master, have a timetable, and we always look for teachers who have a love of teaching, the ability to challenge a wide range of pupil abilities, and who take a real pleasure in the company of children.
