The Cove School is seeking a unique individual to support needs based behavior and social emotional services for students and parents. The Intern will be supervised by the Clinical Director, complete all requirements of their training program for a school psychology internship, and maintain a minimum of 2 hours of supervision per week.
Schedule- Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 3:45 pm
- August 12, 2026 - June 4, 2027, following the school calendar
- Evidence of completion of final internship as required by your school
- Positive attitude toward working with students of varying maturity and academic levels
- Ability to collaborate with a team
- Desire to learn
- Assess the academic and social emotional needs of students
- Provide direct counseling/social services to students
- Coordinate therapeutic services between the program and other agencies offering social and educational services in the school and local community
- Establish referral network/linkages with outside agencies for students and parents
- Complete comprehensive evaluations, including reporting and IEP paperwork
- Write measurable IEP goals
- Develop Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
- Advocate for students' needs within the school
- Attend and participate in all scheduled team meetings
- Implement the philosophy and objectives of the program
- Report to the Clinical Director
The Cove School is a non public therapeutic day school for students with learning disabilities located in Northbrook, IL. Cove students come from 60 nearby public schools, and families can also choose to fund tuition privately. Classes are kept small, teaching is flexible and varies according to each student's learning style, and a team of onsite specialists work collaboratively to provide students with intensive, integrated related services.
