School Mental Health Assistant - Perfect for Psychology or Criminology Graduates

Position: School Mental Health Assistant

Full-Time Term-Time Only

Start Date: September 2025

Sector: Education and Training

Salary: 460- 500 per week

The Role:

  • Support students with SEMH challenges, both in and out of class
  • Work 1:1 or in small groups to develop emotional regulation and coping strategies
  • Collaborate with SENCOs, educational psychologists, and pastoral staff
  • Foster a safe and inclusive environment where all students feel understood

Who This Suits:

  • A Psychology or Criminology graduate with a genuine interest in child development, trauma, or behaviour
  • Someone looking to build experience before pursuing further training (e.g. PGCE, MSc, or mental health roles)

Requirements:

  • Degree in Psychology, Criminology, or a related field
  • Empathy, excellent communication skills, and a non-judgemental attitude
  • Previous experience working with young people or in a care setting is desirable, but not essential
  • Ability to commute to Royston.
