About the School:
Due to the continued growth of The Royal Grammar School Guildford, Qatar (RGSGQ) we seek to appoint an passionate and forward thinking School Counsellor for secondary to join one of the most prestigious British International schools in the Middle East.
The RGS Guildford Qatar has developed a strong partnership with RGS Guildford in the UK a prestigious UK independent school with a tradition and rich history for providing outstanding education. We also have strong links with our international sister schools throughout the world.
The RGS Guildford, Qatar is an all-through British school offering a co-educational British curriculum for children aged 3 to 18. The School opened in September 2016, and now welcomes over 785 students to its campus which is just 20 minutes from the Pearl and the new Lusail city. Students follow the English Early Years Foundation Stage, the National Curriculum at Key Stages 1, 2, 3 and at Key Stage 4 a comprehensive range of IGCSE courses. At Post-16 the school offers a range of AS levels. The school has a reputation for high quality teaching and learning and has a range of excellent sports facilities which include an astro turf, sports hall and an open-air swimming pool.

About the role :
• Prior experience supporting the secondary school students.
• Establish a supportive and secure psychological environment that encourages students to reach out for help and access continuous care.
• To provide a high-quality counselling service to students experiencing a wide range of social, emotional and academic problems.
• To provide support, guidance and advice to parents, carers and the school.
• To observe confidentiality and to support the school’s endeavor to provide excellent teaching and learning for all students.
• Contribute to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare and personal care of children and young people.
• Work closely with the Pastoral team to analyse student behavioural issues, support policy development, and recommend effective solutions.
Skills and qualities:
A bachelor’s degree in psychology (or similar field) and a master’s degree in Counselling or Psychotherapy, preferably related to children.
Minimum 2 years’ post qualification experience.
A teaching qualification (PGCE / QTS / Teaching Licence).
Fluent in both Languages (English & Arabic).
Must have excellent management skills and able to deal effectively with student behaviour issues.
Culturally sensitive, dependable, flexible and able to work in a continuously changing environment.
