Job Title
School Counsellor - Comprehensive
Reports To
Division Principal Main Working Relationships Division Principal, IB Coordinator(s), Specialist Coordinators such as the Head of Learning Support, fellow teachers and, most importantly, our students and their families.

General
Assist in developing, managing and delivering the school counselling programme in line with the International School Counsellor Association Model
Advocate for students’ personal and educational needs and ensure these needs are addressed Provide individual or small group confidential counselling for students
Provide support to students facing emergency situations
Refer students, staff, and families whose needs cannot be addressed in the school setting to outside specialists, as per the school's recommendation
Advocate for external mental health services on behalf of students
Collaborate with the boarding house team to provide counselling support as needed
Collaborate within the counselling team to deliver the peer support programme
Assist divisional principals with identifying and resolving student issues, needs and problems
Contribute to student of concern meetings as appropriate
Uphold the school’s child safeguarding protocols and procedures.
Skills
Ability to create a safe and inclusive environment for students, families and staff
Understanding barriers to student learning and counselling strategies to help students overcome these barriers
Experience with individual and group counselling
An understanding of the developmental, emotional, social and educational issues of young people
An awareness of the range of needs of people from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
Knowledge of and experience in implementing positive transitions-care management programs in schools
An entrepreneurial spirit, with a drive to develop new programs and new solutions to meet community needs
Experience in teaching and implementing conflict resolution
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving ability and flexibility
Proficient in the Google Suite of applications
Experience with confidential safeguarding online platforms such as CPOMS
Must have strong written and verbal English communication skills
Commitment to and interest in a progressive educational environment
Required Qualifications
M.Ed.or higher in School Counselling (consideration for other school counselling degrees with suitable experience in school counselling responsibilities)
Further safeguarding training or qualifications for working with young people
Preferred 3-5 years of experience as a School Counsellor, particularly in an international setting
