The Role:- Counselling students.
- Supporting emotional needs of students.
- Performing a risk assessment of students during the first and last sessions to determine the severity of issues faced and progress made using core forms.
- Determining and applying different counselling strategies, theories, techniques and tools specific to the issues and needs of individual students.
- Assisting students dealing with bereavement, bullying and other types of mental and physical abuse, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, eviction from home, self-esteem issues, eating disorders, sexuality, family break ups, peer pressure and exam stress.
- Applying tailored counselling approach to students with severe mental health issues (tier1, 2 and 3 CAHMS cases)until they are transferred to CAHMS.
- Provide counselling support to students after they finish their therapy at CAHMS.
- Supporting parents/carers where appropriate.
- Managing and prioritising the waiting list of students.
- Supporting Pupil Premium students through counselling.
- Assisting pupils on transfer to secondary school to integrate/adjust to their new environment.
- Ensuring students who are referred to the unit are supervised.
Salary range
- £1 - £38,255
