About the role

Do you have great communication skills, enjoy being organised, and want to make a difference by helping people find the right support? We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to provide vital assistance on our Referrals and Enquiries line within the Derbyshire Recovery and Peer Support Service (DRPSS).

As a Referral & Enquires Volunteer, you'll:

  • Provide phone support via our Referrals and Enquiries line
  • Organise and file documents for the service
  • Upload documents and information to our systems
  • Monitor the DRPSS Outlook inbox and respond appropriately
  • Follow up on referrals and waiting lists to ensure people receive timely support
  • Offer signposting and referral options where required
  • Help keep records up to date so people can access the right support quickly and effectively

Full training and regular supervision will be provided, so you’ll feel confident and supported in your role.

About the service

The Derbyshire Recovery Peer Support Service (DRPSS) helps people improve and maintain their mental health and wellbeing, and reconnect with their local community. We offer one-to-one support, telephone support, and community groups to anyone over 18 in Derbyshire who is experiencing mental ill health.

By supporting our Referrals and Enquiries line, you’ll ensure people can access the right help at the right time.

What will make you a great fit for this role?

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic IT knowledge (email, Word, data entry)
  • Organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to relate to people from all backgrounds
  • A supportive, non-judgemental approach
  • Respect for confidentiality and safeguarding

It's not essential, but you may also bring:

  • Good local knowledge of mental health support services
