Contract: 6-month temporary contract

Relationships Sussex (formerly Relate West Sussex) is seeking a qualified and experienced counsellor to work with children and young people aged 5-18. This temporary role has been created to help us meet increasing service demand.

Main Purpose of the Role

  • To deliver a high-quality, effective and professional counselling service to children and young people
  • To participate in clinical and individual supervision and training to continually develop counselling practiceAdhere to the code of ethics and practice adopted by Relate and relevant counselling professional bodies
  • Follow all Relationships Sussex policies and procedures, including Safeguarding and Confidentiality, to ensure the safety of clients and staff
  • Maintain confidential client records in line with data protection regulations and centre procedures
  • Complete and submit records to enable effective service monitoring and client feedback within agreed timescales
  • Participate in individual and clinical supervision, team meetings and training as required
  • Take responsibility for ongoing professional development as agreed with the Supervisor and Centre Manager
  • Work collaboratively with the Centre team and wider federation to ensure services are delivered professionally and efficiently
  • Proactively undertake additional duties appropriate to the role as required by the Centre Manager

Person Specification

  • A recognised children and young people's counselling qualification
  • Experience counselling children and young people aged 5+
  • Experience of assessing client needs and suitability for counselling
  • Experience working with a range of counselling theories and methodologies
  • Sound understanding of safeguarding and ability to respond appropriately
  • Experience maintaining accurate and appropriate counselling records
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
  • Willingness to undertake additional training and CPD as required
