People Advisor – 6 Month Fixed-Term Contract

Location: Homebased (travel to London or Birmingham may be required)
Salary: £30,880 - £35,907 per annum + £3,000 London allowance (if applicable)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Contract Type: Fixed-Term (6 months)

At Rethink Mental Illness, we believe everyone deserves a life worth living. We’re looking for a compassionate and confident People Advisor to join our People & OD team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting our managers and teams through a range of employee relations cases—from sickness absence and grievances to disciplinaries and TUPE.

Your role in our mission

You’ll be a key part of our HR operations, helping us create a fair, inclusive and supportive working environment. You’ll:

  • Provide clear, empathetic advice on ER matters to managers and staff.
  • Support HR Business Partners with casework and reporting.
  • Keep our policies, templates and toolkits up to date and accessible.
  • Provide guidance on our new HRIS, supporting process mapping and training.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across People & OD, Payroll, and Finance.
  • Build trusted relationships with external partners like Occupational Health and our EAP provider.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a solid HR generalist background and understands employment law.
  • Is confident handling ER cases and supporting managers with sensitive issues.
  • Communicates with clarity, kindness and professionalism.
  • Spots opportunities to improve processes and make things better.
  • Is comfortable using HR systems and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ideally holds CIPD Level 5 and has experience with HRIS or project work.
