Leading the Learning
Counselors at ISB:Provide meaningful, intentional learning opportunities aligned with the practices, standards, benchmarks, and learning outcomes of the ISB curriculum, along with its Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Community of Practice
Actively participate in collaborative team meetings with a growth mindset and focus on improving learning for all studentsPartner with teachers, administration, and other staff to ensure care and support for the social, emotional and learning success of studentsEngage in professional development to ensure research-supported practices in the instruction and care of children are used at ISBCommunicate directly and collaboratively with parents or guardians to positively improve student learning and/or well-beingPositively contribute to school culture through positivity, care for others, and shared sense of purpose and communityMaintain a mindset of high expectations facilitated through systems of high supportParticipate in the Admissions Process: review files, interpret findings of outside assessments, and make recommendations which may include assessing new students, conducting intake interviews, meeting with families, etc.
Other Duties
Collaborate with teachers and leadership teams to integrate social-emotional learning and wellbeing into daily classroom practice and the wider school experienceUse counseling expertise to support proactive systems of student care, including MTSS structures, responsive services, and Tier 2 interventions that promote growth for all learnersServe as a visible advocate for student wellbeing, strengthening connections among school, home, and community to ensure every child feels safe, supported, and ready to learnFacilitate parent education workshops and information sessions on topics related to child development, wellbeing, and safeguardingSupport student and family transitions, including orientation for new students, grade-to-grade moves, and departuresEncouraged to support student participation and connection through sponsorship of a student club or non-stipended extracurricular activityCrisis response at the individual or whole school level; Serve as a active member of the Safeguarding Team.
