Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA)

  • Part-time (3 days per week)
  • Location: Horsham
  • Salary: WSCC ELSA Scale

We are seeking a dedicated Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) to join our supportive team at a vibrant secondary school. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting the emotional and psychological well-being of students, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Work directly with students to provide emotional support through planned sessions, using strategies tailored to individual needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers and the SENCO to identify students who would benefit from emotional literacy support and develop personalised plans.
  • Implement interventions to promote emotional awareness, resilience, and social skills.
  • Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Participate in training and development sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge in emotional literacy support.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • ELSA Qualification
  • Experience in a support role within a school environment, preferably with a focus on emotional and psychological support.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by secondary school students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage empathetically with students.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of emotional literacy support.
