Position Overview:International School Bangkok seeks an Elementary School Counselor to support elementary age learners. Counselors are proactive leaders who work with students, teachers, and parents to promote academic, social, and emotional growth. They provide responsive services, guide SEL lessons, facilitate small groups, and help develop behavior and support plans. Collaboration with teachers, families, and specialists ensures care for every child. A counseling license and three years’ ES counseling experience are required, with SEL, MTSS/RTI, and parent partnership expertise valued.
Counselors at ISB:
  • Provide meaningful, intentional learning opportunities aligned with the practices, standards, benchmarks, and learning outcomes of the ISB curriculum, along with its Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Community of Practice
  • Actively participate in collaborative team meetings with a growth mindset and focus on improving learning for all students
  • Partner with teachers, administration, and other staff to ensure care and support for the social, emotional and learning success of students
  • Engage in professional development to ensure research-supported practices in the instruction and care of children are used at ISB
  • Communicate directly and collaboratively with parents or guardians to positively improve student learning and/or well-being
  • Positively contribute to school culture through positivity, care for others, and shared sense of purpose and community
  • Maintain a mindset of high expectations facilitated through systems of high support
  • Participate in the Admissions Process: review files, interpret findings of outside assessments, and make recommendations which may include assessing new students, conducting intake interviews, meeting with families, etc.
Other Duties:
  • Collaborate with teachers and leadership teams to integrate social-emotional learning and wellbeing into daily classroom practice and the wider school experience
  • Use counseling expertise to support proactive systems of student care, including MTSS structures, responsive services, and Tier 2 interventions that promote growth for all learners
  • Serve as a visible advocate for student wellbeing, strengthening connections among school, home, and community to ensure every child feels safe, supported, and ready to learn
  • Facilitate parent education workshops and information sessions on topics related to child development, wellbeing, and safeguarding
  • Support student and family transitions, including orientation for new students, grade-to-grade moves, and departures
  • Encouraged to support student participation and connection through sponsorship of a student club or non-stipended extracurricular activity
  • Crisis response at the individual or whole school level; Serve as a active member of the Safeguarding Team.
