Job Responsibilities

Deliver professional psychological services in line with legislation, council policies, and Educational Psychology Service standards.

Assess and provide advice on the developmental and learning needs of children and young people, including those with special educational needs (SEN) and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Provide psychological guidance and support to school staff, parents, carers, and other professionals to promote positive outcomes for children.

Contribute to projects or initiatives that improve the effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery.

Monitor and report on service allocation, workload, and outcomes to support continuous improvement.

Offer consultation, supervision, and advice to colleagues, supporting their professional development.

Participate in multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with other professionals to enhance service provision.

Maintain up-to-date professional knowledge and adhere to safeguarding requirements and Council policies.
Person Specification
Must-Have Requirements
-
HCPC-registered Educational Psychologist.

Good honours degree in Psychology.

Postgraduate qualification (Masters or Doctorate) recognised by the British Psychological Society and Association of Educational Psychologists.

Experience working with children and young people, including those with SEN or SEMH needs, in educational settings.

Proven ability to work collaboratively with other professionals.

Knowledge of current approaches, tools, and techniques used in educational psychology.

Understanding of legislation affecting educational psychology practice.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-
Ability to manage a varied workload, prioritise tasks, and maintain professional judgement under pressure.

Competent in IT for management and administrative purposes.

Satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

Ability to travel within and outside the Borough as required.
Nice-to-Have Requirements

Ownership of a car for travel.
