A supportive and inclusive secondary school in Greenwich is seeking a caring, proactive and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join their specialist support team. This role is key in helping students with SEND and SEMH needs overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
Behaviour Mentor - the role:
Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for students with SEND/SEMH
De-escalate challenging situations using positive behaviour strategies
Work closely with the SENDCo, pastoral team and external professionals
Support EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
Foster emotional regulation, resilience and positive self-esteem
Monitor progress and contribute to review meetings and reports
Behaviour Mentor - requirements:
Experience supporting young people with SEND or SEMH needs (school, youth work, care)
A calm, empathetic and consistent approach
Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with vulnerable students
Understanding of trauma-informed practice and safeguarding
Relevant training (Team Teach, MAPA, etc.) is desirable but not essential
A 2:1 or above degree in Psychology, Education or a related field is advantageous
Behaviour Mentor - the school:
A strong, supportive inclusion and pastoral team
Regular CPD, including behaviour, SEMH and SEND training
Opportunities to progress into SEN, pastoral or therapeutic roles
A nurturing environment committed to restorative practice
Excellent transport links across South London
