With a noticeable increase in pupils presenting with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges, schools are in urgent need of specialist-trained professionals who can offer targeted support, build meaningful relationships, and help create a calm and inclusive learning environment. Your role as a Behaviour Mentor will involve:
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis who may display behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties (SEMH)
- De-escalating challenging situations in a calm and confident manner while maintaining a safe and positive learning environment
- Building strong, trusting relationships with students, becoming a positive and reliable presence in their school life
- Working closely with the class teacher and pastoral staff to implement behaviour strategies and individual support plans
- Contributing to a whole-school approach to positive behaviour management
- Using restorative approaches to help students understand and reflect on their actions

- Be experienced working with children who have behavioural challenges, ideally in a school or youth work setting
- Have a calm, resilient, and empathetic approach to managing behaviour
- Be proactive, firm but fair, and consistent in setting boundaries and expectations
- Be passionate about supporting children with additional needs including SEMH and SEND
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff alike
