Job summary
An exciting opportunity for a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist to join our established Specialist Psychotherapy Service at BSMHFT, to support us in delivering and developing high quality therapy services for patients with complex attachment trauma and emotional needs. This post is open to professionals with a core mental health profession EG: psychology (clinical or counselling), art psychotherapy, mental health nursing or related field with further training in and experience of providing psychodynamic psychotherapy.
We are a well-established service that has been providing therapeutic services for over thirty years, for people with complex and enduring emotional difficulties. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team of people committed to providing and maintaining high quality and compassionate psychological care and supporting staff in applying psychodynamic ideas to their work through the provision of supervision, consultation and training. Continuing professional development and the opportunity to learn from experience is highly valued in this service.
We are looking for someone who has a training and experience in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and an understanding and an interest in Compassion Focused Therapy and who is willing to engage in further training to meet the needs of the service. Any further training required will be supported by SPS. The post offers the opportunity to be involved in both individual and group therapy.
Main duties of the job
A psychodynamic approach underpins all of our work at SPS. We provide group and individual long term psychotherapy for up to years. This includes a compassion focused group psychotherapy programme, a therapeutic day programme, analytic group work and individual psychotherapy. We also provide supervision, reflective practice , consultation, link work and training to staff across the trust and you would be expected to contribute to these activities as needed with a focus on the clinical provision in SPS.
As a member of the team you will be expected to contribute to projects that are aimed at improving the quality and accessibility of our service to our diverse Birmingham population.
You will be supported in this post through clinical supervision, reflective practice and line management arrangements. This position will be based at Callum Lodge in Winson Green and Coach House at the Uffculme site, although travel to other sites on occasion may be required.
There will be opportunities to work with colleagues across the trust on specific projects and there is an option to be part of the on call rota system.
