Aspiring Psychologist - Learning Support Assistant (Ages 16-19)

We are seeking an Aspiring Psychologist to join a specialist post-16 provision in Barking and Dagenham. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on experience within education and training while supporting young people with complex needs.
This position is based in Barking and Dagenham and involves working as a Learning Support Assistant with learners aged 16 to 19. As an Aspiring Psychologist, you will support students both in and out of the classroom, helping them to engage with learning, regulate emotions, and develop independence skills linked to education and training outcomes.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students aged 16 to 19
- Supporting learners with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
- Assisting teachers with lesson delivery and differentiated activities
- Implementing behaviour support strategies and following individual support plans
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and preparation for adulthood
- Supporting personal care where required and ensuring student wellbeing
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Observing and recording student progress to inform planning
