Are you a recent or soon-to-be graduate in Psychology, Criminology, or Sociology looking to gain practical experience in education as an Aspiring Educational Psychologist?

This school in Burgess Hill offers an excellent opportunity for an Aspiring Educational Psychologist / SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to gain hands-on experience supporting children and young people with additional needs in a specialist setting.

The School & Role

This school based in Burgess Hill is a welcoming and inclusive special school and college for pupils aged 2-19 with a range of needs, including autism, communication difficulties, and complex learning needs. They work closely with therapists and professionals to support pupils' cognitive, emotional, and social development.

This Aspiring Educational Psychologist / Learning Support Assistant role is ideal for graduates looking to build experience before pursuing further training in Educational Psychology or related fields.

You will work alongside teachers, SEN specialists, and therapists to support learning, behaviour, and development, while gaining insight into assessment and intervention strategies used in educational settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
  • Support learning, cognition, and engagement in the classroom
  • Assist with implementing individual education and behaviour plans
  • Observe and record pupil progress and behaviour
  • Support emotional regulation and social interaction
  • Contribute to a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment
  • Provide personal care where required

Looking For

  • A degree in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, or a related field
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience
  • Strong observation and communication skills
  • A proactive and reflective approach to learning
  • Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals (desirable but not essential)
  • Able to commute to Burgess Hill
