Why is it free?

It's simple. Allowing recruiters to advertise volunteer roles for free aligns with our core values.

By removing financial barriers, we believe you can reach a wider pool of potential trainees and volunteers, benefiting both your organisation and the individuals seeking these opportunities.

Free advertising ensures that organisations, regardless of size or financial resources, can reach a broad audience of potential trainees and volunteers, fostering inclusivity and community engagement.

Volunteers bring valuable skills, experiences, and perspectives, enriching the organisation's work and contributing to its overall success (NCVO).

People

What is a voluntary role?

A voluntary role refers to a position or task undertaken by an individual without financial compensation, often driven by a desire to contribute to a cause or support a community. People in these roles typically offer their time and skills to organisations, charities, or events, motivated by personal values, a sense of duty, or the wish to gain experience.

Voluntary roles can vary widely, encompassing activities such as mentoring, organising events, or providing support services, and they play a crucial part in fostering community engagement and social responsibility.

Do volunteer get paid?

While volunteers do not receive a salary, they may be reimbursed for reasonable expenses, such as travel, meals, DBS checks, or childcare costs incurred while volunteering. Renumeration not the same as a salary and is decided at the discretion and contractual terms of the employer.

placement / supervisor

What is a student placement?

A student placement, sometimes called to as a trainee placement, refers to a structured opportunity for individuals, often students or recent graduates, to gain practical experience in a professional environment.

Many professions require students to undertake placements to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical experience during their studies. Placements allow students to apply what they have learned in real-world settings, enhancing their skills and understanding of the field.

Typically, placements are structured and designed to provide mentorship and guidance, helping trainees develop their careers while contributing to the organisation they are placed in.

Do students get paid?

Generally, students who undertake a mandatory placement as part of their education or training are not required to be paid. Like with voluntary roles, organisations may reimburse students reasonable expenses in line with the terms of their placement.

board members

What is a trustee role?

Trustees are the volunteers who lead charities and decide how they are run. They are often referred to as 'board members' or 'the board' of an organisation.

A board member is an individual who serves on the governing body of an organisation, such as a corporation, non-profit, or association. Their primary role involves providing oversight, strategic direction, and support to ensure the organisation meets its goals and operates effectively.

Board members typically bring diverse expertise and perspectives, contributing to decision-making processes and helping to guide the organisation’s mission and vision.

Are trustees paid?

Being a trustee is typically a voluntary role, and most trustees are not paid for serving on a board. Trustees will not be paid for their services, especially in the context of charities.

However, there are exceptions, and trustees can be paid for certain activities or services provided to the charity. They can also be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred while carrying out their duties, such as travel and accommodation. Renumeration is decided at the discretion of the organisation and it's governing laws.
